Scarlett Johansson Anywhere I Lay My Head

i really like scarlett johansson. as an actress. and while i may not have a lot positive to say about what i’ve heard so far of the anywhere i lay my head album i will say this – bowie sounds amazing on falling down and the actual treatment of this version is quite nice. it actually makes me wonder what it would sound like with tom’s voice laid through it. i am anxiously awaiting to hear the other bowie appearance on fannin’ street. i also saw the video for falling down and thought it was a bit pretentious and re-re but hey, maybe someone else out there digs it? here is a link for the song and the video is below:

i know anners is a big tom waits fan – any other slags fans of his? what do you think? it is trashy or terrific in your eyes?

yar I don’t like it, she’s a good actress tho – and she doesn’t seem like a halfwit (uncommon in young hollywood).

It’s OK. It has to be better than Lindsay Lohan, which I refuse to listen to.

Not too shabby. She doesn’t have the greatest voice, but it kinda fits the song. At least she’s not going down the usual actress-turned-singer dance/pop route. Bowie sounds great as usual.

Mr World loves Tom Waits, so I’ve heard a bit of him over the years and from what I’ve heard I like.

I really love this. I think that Dave Sitek of Tv on the Radio produced this record – didn’t he? I absolutely love her voice, which is suprising to me. Nice video too.

I don’t mind it at all. She sounds interesting. But it’s like a total vanity project and that irks me. She blows for this, but it’s not bad or anything. Hee! I’m confused.

Can I be ambiguous about this situation?

She looks pretty in the video. I never thought she was pretty before.

I still hate her for Coachella last year and stepping foot on the same stage as the Jesus and Mary Chain… beyotch.

    Tom Waits is God.

I kind of like it. I give it 3 stars.

Not that my stars actually matter… but whatever.

what a mixed bag of reactions! very interesting!

anners: agree about the unacceptable jamc backup – lame!

miss world: agree about the actress gone singer route. she seems semi normal but i guess we’ll have to wait it out and see.

wanda: i don’t want my virgin ears to go anywhere near lilo either!

janers: she doesn’t seem totally re-re which is an absolute +

    d. solracky: yes – dave from tv did produce and i think his influence is def all over falling down which is a great thing in my opinion! plus i love that song province that they did with bowie. gorgeous!
