tv party and dirty 30
there is a cool new doc up on pitchfork.tv about tv party, a cool public access show that was on in nyc back in the day. it was completely random and featured all kinds of fun shih like music, art, cocktails and other fun forms of excessiveness. anyway, there were loads of awesome peeps on it so i thought i would mention it for any slags that would be interested. here is the blurb:
Running from 1978 to 1982, this hilariously anarchic, drug-fueled NYC cable access show featured unpredictable appearances from David Byrne, Andy Warhol, Blondie, Mick Jones, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, George Clinton, Jean Michel Basquiat and others.
enjoy! i’m am off to l.a./palm springs tomorrow through weds (woo-hoo) to wrastle me up a dingo and a proper meal for bozzers
for anyone who may be lacking (or may have misplaced) their sense of humor i would like to clarify that was indeed a joke!!!
and happy dirty 30 cola (my beloved gorda!) MWAH! make a wish…
James Franco !
It’s his phucking 30th birthday. Feliz cumpleanos, bytch! Why is James Franco so ephing cute? It’s kinda gross. Oh, and there is this lady who has a big phat crush on him. You can witness this at HEY FRANCO. It’s awesome.
Happy Birthday, Lover !
I think this is John’s high school Picture. Hahahahhaa! I love him! People, today is John Frusciante’s birthday! Bytch was born in 1970 and that makes him 38 years old! W00t or something! John is the brilliant guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers and a stellar solo artist in his own right. Just ask Dr. Romy if she appears on the blog anytime soon.
By the way, I’ve been listening to his first album “Niandra la Des & Usually Just a T-Shirt” and I have fallen back in love. It’s not for those who embrace Maroon 5, let’s just get that out in the open right this minute. All his solo stuff gets 2 thumbs up from me. There’s quite a lot of it, too.
Oh, and he’s the nicest man in the history of the universe.
* Thank u for the reminder, Stella! It was in the back of my mind, I swear it. :)
Billy Wilder would have been 101 annos today!
Billy Wilder was one of Hollywood’s best and greatest writers and directors. He was mostly responsible for bringing us Sunset Boulevard (the best movie ever), Double Indemnity (the second best movie ever), as well as many others, including The Seven Year Itch.
That ain’t no picture of him, though. It’s a still from Double Idemnity. Go rent that shit pronto. The best dialogue in the history of cinema. If I was a super nerd, I’d include a sample of it right here.
FYI: The American Film Institute (AFI) just announced their top 100 films. Expect the usual suspects. Click HERE if you give a damn.
